Fill A Seat, Feed A Child
Grand opening Sunday is about more than just a building. Our desire is to be a church IN the community FOR the community. So in keeping with that mission, when you attend one of our Grand Opening Services and “Fill a Seat,” we will “Feed a Child” in need in our community on your behalf.
We are partnering with Mort Elementary Community School to provide breakfast items for children who struggle with hunger.
Why Mort? Why Breakfast?
As we began planning for our Grand Opening Service, we were introduced to a need in our community through our friends at Faith Tampa Bay. At Mort Elementary, just a few miles away from North Pointe, 99% of its 800+ students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Free breakfast is also available, however many students walk to school and are not able to arrive on time for breakfast. Many are not always able to have dinner the night before and with no breakfast, hunger makes the educational environment very difficult.
As a church family, we desire to be in the community for the community and meeting the hunger needs of children in just one practical way we can help – and you can be a part of it! Since we launched in 2004 we have always know its not about a building! Although we are thrilled to have this new space to gather together and to serve the community, we wanted to make sure that this special Sunday was about so much more than just a building.
For every person attending on Sunday, May 28th, 1 week of breakfast items for 1 child will be donated to Mort Elementary. The goal is to provide each teacher with a “Breakfast Bin” when the new school year begins so children who arrive hungry can have something nutritious to eat. This has been proven to help educationally, emotionally and behaviorally and will help these children succeed.
